The 2018-2019 Honorable Albert W. Sheppard Fellow, MacKensie Larson, was recognized Tuesday, April 16th at Philadelphia City Hall during the annual Sheppard Fund Reception.

The Philadelphia Bar Foundation and Philadelphia Bar Association's Business Litigation Committee established the Honorable Albert W. Sheppard Scholarship Fund in 2013 to assist law students interested in business law and litigation gain research and writing skills. The scholarship fortifies a year-long clerkship position with the Commerce Case Management Program alternating between candidates at Temple University Beasley School of Law and Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law.

MacKensie is a third year law student at the Temple University Beasley School of Law, where she has assembled a distinguished academic record. MacKensie serves as Executive Editor for Temple’s International and Comparative Law Journal. During her second year, she interned for the Honorable Judge Carl A. Solano in the Superior Court of Pennsylvania and studied abroad in Tokyo, Japan. She followed her second year of law school with an internship at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Following graduation, MacKensie will work at Trade Pacific PLLC, an international trade law firm in Washington, D.C.

The scholarship is in memory of Judge Albert W. Sheppard, Jr., who was devoted to promoting civility, courtesy, and respect in the court system. He served as a Judge on the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas from 1983 to 2011. He was one of the founders of the now critically internationally recognized Commerce Court Program to promote fair and efficient resolution of complex business disputes.
