This one-hour CLE is designed to provide a practical introduction to nonprofit board service and is a key part of preparing for the Board Observer Program.

Attendance is mandatory for all 2026 Board Observers.
Mentors, agency leaders, and partners are warmly invited to attend; however, participation in the CLE is optional for non-observers.

During the CLE, participants will learn about:

  • The basics of nonprofit board service
  • Common charitable and compliance issues under state and federal law
  • Fiduciary duties of nonprofit board members
  • Tax laws that apply to nonprofit organizations
  • Pennsylvania laws governing charitable and nonprofit entities
