Each year, the Philadelphia Bar Foundation honors individuals, law firms, and students who advance equal access to justice. Our awards celebrate excellence in public interest law, pro bono service, nonprofit leadership, and the lasting impact of those who break barriers and strengthen civil justice in our communities.
Philadelphia Bar Foundation Award
Originally established by the Apothaker family in honor of Louis D. Apothaker, the Philadelphia Bar Foundation Award recognizes a public interest attorney who has dedicated their career to advancing equal access to justice through work in the nonprofit legal services community.
Philadelphia Bar Foundation Pro Bono Award
The Philadelphia Bar Foundation's Pro Bono Award is presented annually to a Philadelphia law firm or corporate legal department, this award honors outstanding volunteer efforts in providing legal services to people who cannot afford them.
Trailblazers for Justice Award
Trailblazers for Justice are historical figures who helped pave the way for equal access to justice in Philadelphia. Their lives and legacies reflect the diversity, courage, and community-driven leadership that continue to shape our city.
Samuel T. Gomez Award
Established in memory of Samuel T. Gomez, Esq., and in partnership with the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania, this award is given to a law student who demonstrates a strong commitment to public service and uplifting the community.
