Nonprofit Partner Spotlight: CASA of Philadelphia County

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Philadelphia County has been providing advocacy to children in foster care since 2006. CASA trains and supports community volunteers to advance the welfare of children in foster care through effective advocacy. Our volunteers are highly screened and trained and make the commitment to one child or sibling group at a time. CASA is appointed to cases by family court judges and prepares best interest recommendations for the court. CASA volunteers talk with and visit the children, their caretakers, case managers, medical and mental health professionals to gather information to make their recommendations and follow-up to ensure that services are provided that needed supports don't fall through the cracks. CASA of Philadelphia has more than 100 active volunteers and serves between 250-300 children annually with a CASA volunteer.
