Providing legal representation to low-income individuals in matters of immigration law and advocating for pro-immigrant changes in government policies, with a focus on reuniting families, seeking humanitarian relief for adults and children fleeing persecution, assisting survivors of domestic violence and other crimes, and representing clients in removal/deportation proceedings

Philadelphia Bar Foundation Grant Impact

Nearly 5,000 individuals from 120 countries come through Nationalities Service Center (NSC)'s doors each year seeking the organizations wide range of trauma-informed progams services and legal interventions designed to afford them access to a life of wholeness, healing, and promise. NSC's legal services focus on reuniting families, seeking humanitarian relief for adults and children fleeing persecution, assisting survivors of domestic violence and other crimes, and represenitng clients in removal and deportation proceedings. Funding from the Philadelphia Bar Foundation helps NSC provide legal services to the most vulnerable immigrants, those who have suffered extreme violence, persecution, abuse, and other truamas.

  • Refugee and Community Integration (resettlement, case management, job development and placement, job retention assistance)
  • Language Access (ESL classes, interpretation, translation, interpreter training)
  • Health and Wellness (health access, medical support services and case management, services for survivors of torture, mental health and wellness activities)
  • Legal Services (immigration legal services, removal/deportation defense, services for survivors of domestic violence and survivors of torture, anti-human trafficking services)
