Mayor James Kenney Unites the Community in Support of Legal Aid at the Philadelphia Bar Foundation Benefit

2017 Access to Justice Benefit strengthens the acquisition of free legal services in our justice system

PHILADELPHIA – October 23, 2017 – The Philadelphia Bar Foundation is proud to announce that Mayor James Kenney will headline opening remarks at their Access to Justice Benefit on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Mütter Museum of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, starting at 6:00 pm. in the evening.

“The Philadelphia Bar Foundation is the only foundation in our city that is dedicated to strengthening the delivery of civil legal aid. The Access to Justice Benefit is critical to their ability to continue to support organizations that provide vital services for thousands of people in need across Philadelphia and our region,” says Mayor Kenney.

In addition to the Mayor, the Philadelphia Bar Foundation is honored to have award presentations by Stephen A. Cozen of Cozen O’Connor, Kenneth C. Frazier, of Merck & Co., City Solicitor Sozi Pedro Tulante, and JoAnne A. Epps, Temple University Provost.

“The Philadelphia Bar Foundation provides annual grants and other support to 38 legal aid nonprofit partners as a fundamental part of our mission,” says Thomas A. Brophy, Philadelphia Bar Foundation Board President and CEO of Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin, P.C. “This year, it is our pleasure to host representatives of these nonprofits at the Access to Justice Benefit as well as Mayor Kenney. Receiving the Honorable Louis H. Pollak Champion of Public Interest Award at this year’s event will be Richard C. Glazer, Esq., former Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Innocence Project. Ayodele Gansallo, Esq., of HIAS Pennsylvania will be presented with the Philadelphia Bar Foundation Award and Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP will be honored with the Pro Bono Award of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation.
